Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges — virtuoso violinist, composer, conductor, and celebrated figure of 18th-century Paris — takes centre stage with his sparkling Violin Concerto in A major, Op. 5 No. 2. We are delighted to welcome Marie Bérard (concertmaster of the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra) who will bring its dazzling virtuosity and graceful lyricism to life.
Beethoven’s radiant Symphony No. 4 completes the program. From its mysterious, suspenseful opening to its exuberant finale, this often-underrated masterpiece overflows with wit, warmth, rhythmic vitality, and irresistible momentum—a joyful showcase of Beethoven at his most inventive.
