Rashaan Allwood is a Canadian organist, composer and multi talented musician based out of Toronto currently pursuing a PhD in Musical Composition.

Born in Mississauga, Ontario, Allwood graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance and a Master’s Degree in Organ Performance. Rashaan is the recipient of the 2022 Marilyn Mason Award in Organ Composition from the American Guild of Organists, who commissioned him to compose a new piece for solo organ premiered in Washington in 2022. In 2023, the Royal Canadian College of Organists commissioned him to write the mandatory Canadian work for their national competition which took place in Toronto. Allwood will be composing a new work for piano, and 9 instruments called BLACK ICE in 2024 to be premiered by the New Music Concerts organization in Toronto during their 2024/2025 season.

Rashaan’s versatility and passion for exploring different genres have made him a sought-after performer in both traditional and experimental musical settings. This includes performances at Maison Symphonique in Montreal with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal under the baton of Kent Nagano, concerto performances with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at their Winspear Centre, and international performances at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, St. Nikolai Kierke in Leipzig, and St. Michael’s Cathedral in Geneva.
